PTI Sindh President Ali Zaidi Resigns from Politics, Expresses Loyalty to PTI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Ali Zaidi has announced his resignation from politics and stepped down from his party positions, joining the growing list of leaders who have recently left the party. In a video message released on Saturday, Zaidi stated that he had decided to quit politics after careful consideration.

Expressing his concern over the May 9 incidents, Zaidi emphasized the importance of accountability for all those involved. He praised Pakistan's armed forces, highlighting their role in safeguarding the country's borders and ensuring peace. Zaidi, who was recently transferred to Jacobabad jail, expressed his disappointment over the events and condemned the violence.

Zaidi confirmed his decision to leave politics and tendered his resignation as PTI Sindh president, core committee member, and Member of the National Assembly (MNA). However, he reiterated his commitment to working for Pakistan and attracting foreign investments, a role he had previously performed before entering politics.

Stating that he would continue his efforts to bring foreign exchange to Pakistan, Zaidi bid farewell to politics. He concluded his video statement with a slogan in support of the army.

Zaidi's departure from politics comes amidst a wave of leaders leaving PTI and following his arrest on May 9, along with other high-ranking party members and numerous workers, in connection with the protests against Imran Khan's detention. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, termed the day of the protests a "Black Day" and pledged to bring those responsible for attacking military installations to justice.

In response to the incidents, the military leadership decided to adopt a firm stance against those involved in vandalizing military installations, declaring that restraint would no longer be exercised under any circumstances.

Zaidi had faced rumors of leaving PTI, but on May 17, during a press conference, he clarified his loyalty to the party and Imran Khan, stating that he would remain with PTI until Khan himself chose to leave. However, shortly after reasserting his allegiance, the Sindh government transferred Zaidi to Jacobabad jail and revoked his house arrest orders.
