Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Meets Singer Shehzad Roy to Discuss Flood Relief Efforts

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with renowned singer and social worker Shehzad Roy on Friday following his participation in the Textile Expo's inaugural event in Karachi. The meeting, attended by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, focused on the devastating floods that affected one-third of the country last year.

Governor Tessori welcomed the prime minister at the Pakistan Air Force Faisal base and later took to Twitter to share about the meeting with Shehzad Roy at the Governor House.

Shehzad Roy, the founder and president of Zindagi Trust, is known for his philanthropic efforts and advocacy work on social issues. He has been a vocal advocate for educational reforms, child support, and the elimination of corporal punishment in schools.

During the meeting, Shehzad Roy commended the prime minister for providing immediate assistance to the flood-affected individuals and implementing rehabilitation measures to ensure their survival amid the catastrophe.

Earlier, Shehzad Roy spoke at an event organized by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in Islamabad, discussing the importance of the Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Rules, 2022. He emphasized the need to change the mindset of teachers to create a positive and non-violent learning environment for children.

In recognition of his remarkable contributions, Shehzad Roy was recently conferred the Education Excellence Award by President Arif Alvi at a summit organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) at the Aiwan-e-Sadar. He has previously received prestigious awards such as Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Eisaar, and Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his exemplary services to the country.
