Chairman Senate Mohammad Sadiq Sanjrani Urges Formation of Parliamentary Committee for Renaming Parliament House

In a noteworthy development, Chairman Senate Mohammad Sadiq Sanjrani has penned a letter to Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf, proposing the establishment of a parliamentary committee with the objective of changing the name of the esteemed Parliament House building.

Expressing his rationale behind this initiative, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani emphasized the need to bestow Parliament House with a name that resonates with our rich cultural heritage. He further stressed the importance of selecting a name that upholds our national values and symbolizes the unity of the nation.

The primary responsibility of the Parliamentary Committee would be to engage in thorough deliberations and put forth suitable recommendations for renaming the Parliament House. This committee will play a crucial role in suggesting an appropriate and befitting name for the iconic structure.

Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani's letter also highlights the fact that numerous parliament buildings worldwide bear local names. In light of this, the Senate has proposed the names of Taj Haider, Arafaq Siddiqui, Shibli Faraz, and Manzoor Ahmed as potential members of the parliamentary committee. Additionally, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has requested Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf to provide the names of four members from the assembly who could contribute to the committee's deliberations.

This step signifies the commitment of the Chairman Senate and the Senate itself to undertake a thorough and inclusive process in the renaming of Parliament House. By involving representatives from both the Senate and the National Assembly, the committee will ensure a comprehensive and balanced approach to selecting an appropriate name that reflects our cultural identity and national unity.

As this proposal moves forward, the suggestions and inputs from the committee members, as well as the wider public, will be instrumental in reaching a consensus on the new name for Parliament House. The renaming process holds the potential to commemorate our cultural heritage and embody the values that unite our nation.
